VASAI–VIRAR, August 17, 2026: Heavy rain has left roads across Vasai–Virar full of potholes. Daily travel has become difficult. Residents fear accidents.
The issue came to light on Monday. BJP MP Dr. Hemant Savara and Nalasopara MLA Rajan Naik protested against the bad roads. They demanded quick repairs. Residents say two wheeler riders face the biggest risk.
Rainwater has filled many potholes. This makes them hard to spot. Drivers often notice too late.
The damage follows severe flooding earlier this month. The flooding hit civic infrastructure hard. The municipal corporation has since asked the Maharashtra government for ₹1,000 crore in relief. The funds would help repair flood damage and improve infrastructure for the long term.
For commuters, the problems are clear. Bad roads mean slower travel, vehicle damage and higher accident risk. The rain continues. Residents wait for repairs.
